Default So since Anet is so fond of posting updates...

...or at least Gaile is, how about a word or two on a new party-forming system? I distinctly recall (though I'd have to go searching through her Chats from before Nightfall, and I just might after I finish posting this thread) her saying that an updated party-forming system would be put into place with Nightfall. No clear promises--not that I blame her, of course--but I strongly remember something being said about it.

Any news on this? I'd be much obliged. Here I go to seek out the particular log.

I would imagine that this will be implemented in the "huge" update that we have coming, along with the elite mission etc etc etc...

I am along the same lines of thinking as Claw.

The promised "Huge December Update" should bring some decent changes, though as ever Gaile says "No Sorrow's Furnace size stuff" (Which I never understood, since I dont consider the Sorrows Furnace update THAT huge, except for introducing Greens to the game)

Oh, I suppose so. I'd forgotten about that.

Still, it would be nice to have some flavor of official word one way or the other.

I think the OP is refering to the ability to invite players regardless of the district they're in, which is the updated party formation feature that we're all waiting on.

the *hopeful* December update is a better way to perceive the near future

Timeline? Well, maybe there will be something under your Christmas tree wrapped in ones and zeros: Codified Christmas gift, anyone?

Seriously, it would be more accurate to say we’ll have the update ready “in the next few months,” to allow the team flexibility to take a bit more time if that means adding even more cool new content and features.

Not really, we had henchmen before. Heros are simply AI with custom builds, I expected something more along the lines of an elimination of "LFG" spamming if you didn't want to hench.

Well, that, and (for example) the ability to have a sort of "LFG window", where you could put what you are/what you're looking to do, and other people could go through the list of the people LFGing. And vice-versa.

Yeah now that you mention it, I remember it.

It was supposed to be a cross district sorta chat thing for making groups, although I don't know how this would work, because it would just be a very easy way to trade, across this "Cross District Channel".

I can think of plenty of ways for it to work, but my best guess is it will sit beside our Guild Storage and In-game Forum, as far as being said would happen, but never being implemented.

They also said Nightfall would have an elite mission upon release. Don't believe anything Anet says, they are wrong about their own game more than they are correct.

the ncsoft booklet says Cross District Party Forming too! also, u have to relize that much of the stuff said by Anet is sometimes incorrectly confirmed by NCSoft on their booklets because thats what big corportions do. hope features in next chapter are good.

So I haven't been able to spot the log, but that doesn't really discourage me--I know I saw it somewhere, if I could only remember exactly when it was that I found it.

Grrrr.

I'd really really like some kind of improvement to party-forming; as it's one of the only things that hasn't seen some kind of upgrade since release, I think it's past due. Any official word at all on this subject would be phenomenal.

I remember reading that they were looking to add a way where a party member could rejoin if they were disconected in a mission (maybe including an explorable zone?) I was looking foward to that option.

HeHe funny how the announced free update that may come in december is now called the "promised huge update"

And heroes aren't a party forming update, they in fact reduce the need for pugs to exist at all. Just like the new item creation system reduces the need for an auction house (not much but it does). This is the new way of Anet's dealing with problems - getting around them. Just look at what they did to HA to bring back the same number of teams playing it as 1 year ago - 6v6 and lotsss of heroes!

The cross district LFG system now joined Guild Storage on the list of things actually promised to be included soon. So i'm awaiting an official word on them too.
But still the most important by far is the Reconnects system and i'd like to hear they did some work on them during these 18+months...

Hey, knowing A-net, it will be another 2-3 chapters before they get archaic, ass-backwards grouping system up to date. I don't even understand how they could have not made some sort of grouping tool that doesn't involve tediously typing people's names in or searching through a mob to invite yourself. Oh, did I mention inviting yourself is an incredibly stupid idea? When I was a newb, it took me like 3 weeks to realize to ask to get into a group you had to invite them to uh.. invite you? I still don't understand how that logically makes sense but who cares, a LFG system and auction houses are both things that should have been in the game long ago.

More pointless flames please?

Anyway, I would like to see ANet deliver on something big, like the trade upgrades or grouping upgrades. I too remember something like that, but as the rest of us I'll be damned if I can find it.
